Adding children and inviting parents

Your roster: search, filter & import
Getting a family into BrightBadge is two steps: you add the child, then your daycare invites the parent.
Click Manage Children. It opens your whole roster for this site. Up top you can see how many children you have, and that this plan has no limit. To find someone fast, just start typing their name in the search box. You can also filter by active or inactive, or by classroom. Moving over from a spreadsheet? Bulk Import brings in many children at once.
Add a child
Today we'll add one child. Click Add Child, and a short form opens.
Type the child's first name, last name, and date of birth. Pick their classroom from the list. You can also add a new classroom right from here. Click Add Child to save. There he is on the roster. He has no parent linked yet, so let's fix that.
Link a parent to a child
Click View Edit child on his row. It opens his details, which you can edit anytime.
Click the Guardians tab. It shows who's linked to this child — nobody yet. Click Link a Parent. If the parent already has an account at your center — say, for an older sibling — you just pick them from this list. This is a new family, so click New Parent. Type the parent's name and email. A phone number is optional. Click Send Invitation. Your daycare emails them an invitation, and Mateo is linked to them as soon as they accept.
Invite a parent (parent-first)
There's a second way to invite a parent: click Invite Parent, up in the top bar.
This one is parent-first. The parent gets the invitation, and adds their own children while setting up. Only the email is required. Name and phone are optional. Click Send Invitation, and it's on its way. From that email, the parent sets up their account — their details, emergency contacts, health information and a password. At the end, they get their own six-digit pickup code for your check-in screen.
Health Information
Next, click Health Information. It shows every child's allergies, medications and dietary needs in one place.
Click Back to Dashboard.
Send an announcement
Once parents are in, you can reach all of them at once. Click Send Announcement.
Add a subject, write your message, and choose how important it is. Click Send Announcement. BrightBadge tells you how many parents it reached.
Recap
So: add the child, invite the parent, keep health information up to date, and talk to every family with one message.
And for Spanish, choose Español in the language menu at the top. Next, we'll look at online enrollment — sending the paperwork to new families.
